Treaty of Waitangi

Our Interpretation of the Treaty of Waitangi :)

The Treaty of Waitangi is a New Zealand founding document. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on February 6th in 1840 more than 500 maori chiefs signed it.

A few years later people in New Zealand started wars. They fought around New Zealand but the Maori people always lost. Then when muskets were made, Maori people started trading their things for muskets. Now they called it the musket wars.

When hotels and party places were made, people started to drink alcohol.  

When missionaries came to New Zealand, they helped the people to learn and they also gave them land to build houses and food. They also build churches to learn about God.
